GARDNER — On Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, officers with the Gardner Police Department and Gardner Animal Control responded to a residence on Park Street following a report of sick and deceased animals that had been abandoned at the property.
According to Gardner Police Chief Eric McAvene, when officers arrived on scene, they found multiple deceased animals and one surviving animal in poor condition.
The surviving animal is currently receiving medical treatment.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Chief McAvene said additional information will be released as it becomes available and when appropriate.
