WORCESTER — Officers recovered two loaded handguns after a bar fight Sunday night.
According to a statement from Worcester Police Department’s Facebook page, at 2:05 a.m., police were dispatched to the area around Rumors Nightclub on Park Avenue after reports of a “large fight” possibly involving firearms.
When officers arrived, they saw a large crowd in the area, but no actual fight. They were then told by a witness that the fight began inside the nightclub and made its way outdoors ultimately ending in the parking lot across the street.
The officers then went into the parking lot where “they heard yelling and the sound of something breaking.” They then found a gold SUV next to a grey sedan with a broken car mirror. The driver of the gold SUV, Monique Reyes-Navarro, 23, of Winifred Avenue, tried to leave the lot as the police arrived, but alas, the officers conducted a traffic stop and saw that one of the occupants, Erick Perez-Torres, 22, also of Winifred Avenue, had abrasions on his face.
Officers then removed the occupants from the vehicle and found two loaded, unlicensed handguns and in Torres’ bag they found another bag, full of cocaine. Torres, Reyes-Navarro, and Xavier Perez-Franco, 40, of Florida, were all arrested.
All three were charged with two counts of unlawfully carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession of ammunition without an FID card, two counts of carrying a loaded firearm, and two counts of improper storage of a firearm. Torres was separately charged with possession of a Class B substance. All three will be arraigned in court, police said.
