I’ve already written about how exceeding expectations, not winning, drive post-election press and public reactions and provide a bounce only an underdog can get by winning. For instance, Hillary Clinton is supposed to win, but Trump wins, bounce. Biden is supposed to win easy but Trump is closer than expected, bounce plus insurrection. Even as Trump has now lost three in a row and that would be ’18, ’20 and now ’22, this should have been enough to make him go away, but his recent announcement doesn’t come as a surprise.
Trump only knows how to double down when he loses, plus, he thinks a run will buy him time as the feds and the banks close in, and if he wins, he can fire the feds and the banks will kiss his ass. Also, if he can’t raise money from the base he can’t outrun the other financial ghouls, the ones we don’t know anything about, that are surely chasing him. So, it’s no surprise he announced. Soon, he’ll dare the rest of the Republican field to come on down to the cage fight.
The mid-term results mean nothing to him because they were losers. Sure, he would have preferred a coronation with a red tide he would have taken credit for, but a big primary field will do just fine. The last time he ran in a competitive primary there were 18 candidates, nice, right now there are nine potential candidates, sweet. To be sure, none of these boneheads is prime time material. Gov. Ron DeSantis as a Christian knight picking up the mantel of the flawed Trump to make America Christian again…to quote Obama, “What? What?”
VP Pence, who took two years to say, “Yes, Mother and I did pee our pants while running on Jan. 6, but God has forgiven our pissed asses and told me to run for President.” What? What?
More: Dems exceeding expectations in the midterms may cost Republicans the presidential in 2024
U.S Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO), whose fist of fury on Jan. 6 when combined with his scared scuttle out the door to safety performance will become a million memes. If ever there was a place for that fist of fury, I’m sure Josh has at least one and Trump will certainly find two on Josh. What? What?
Trump is going to go after them one by one and none of them have anywhere near his “Carnival Barkers’” basic understanding of the audience, use of language or his desperation. Not to mention that Trump Republicans controlling congress will cause all manner of crazy for the candidates and oxygen for Trump.
The key to a potential Republican win in November 2024 would be a primary opponent of Trump’s who actually bests him in a barking contest in public and does it by defending democratic norms and civility. Yeah, right…not going to happen. It is much more likely that Trump’s opponents will try to ignore him and hope he fades while chasing his base. That means no one can knock him out, if he holds 30% of the delegates at the end of the primaries, he goes to the convention and incites a riot, again. If he’s got 45%, he demands to be installed as Grand Commander. Same play, only this time at the Republican convention.
That has the potential to be the karma event of the century.
