DUXBURY – A seven-month-old Duxbury boy who initially survived an alleged murder attempt by his mother has died.
According to the Plymouth District Attorney’s office, the boy, Callan Clancy, died on Friday at 11:18 a.m. at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Callan was the youngest child of Lindsay Clancy, 32, who police say strangled her three young children – killing two – before attempting to commit suicide by jumping out a window of her residence on 47 Summer Street Tuesday. Clancy worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of this unthinkable tragedy,” said Michael Morrison, the senior director of external communications at the Massachusetts General Hospital. “We extend our deepest sympathies to all those affected by these devastating events.”
So far, Clancy has been charged with the murder of her other two children, Cora, 5, and Dawson, 3, who were found unresponsive at the scene and then pronounced dead at an area hospital. Callan was airlifted to Boston Children’s Hospital with serious injuries Tuesday, where he remained until he passed away Friday morning.
In addition to two counts of murder, Clancy has also been charged with three counts each of strangulation or suffocation and assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
During a press conference Wednesday, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz said that Clancy was still in the hospital, but will be arraigned as soon as possible.
It’s unknown whether postpartum depression or marital problems were an impetus for Clancy’s actions, i.e., if her husband was cheating and/or planning to leave her. Her husband made the 911 call to police.
