
WORCESTER – On Sunday, July 2, officers were dispatched to 64 Water after a 911 caller reported seeing a man with a gun.
“During the investigation, officers learned that a verbal argument transpired between a male later identified as Richard Toro and a group of three individuals,” said a July 3 press release from the City of Worcester. “During the argument, Mr. Toro exited his vehicle and pulled out a firearm. He pointed the gun at one of the males in the group of three. Mr. Toro then proceeded to strike the man in the face with a closed fist.”
Before police arrived on scene, bystanders broke up the fight and Toro, 21, of 20 Main Street, Leominster, fled in his vehicle.
Shortly thereafter, officer located Toro in his car on Mulberry Street. During an inventory of his vehicle, police located a firearm.
Toro was arrested and charged with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, improper storage of a firearm, and assault and battery.
