Man charged with murdering girlfriend in Lunenburg trailer park held without bail

LUNENBURG — Orlando Garcia Rosado, 57, of Lunenburg, has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend at a trailer park complex on Massachusetts Avenue last Tuesday.

Rosado was arraigned in Fitchburg District Court Wednesday on charges of murder and assault and battery on a household or family member. He pleaded not guilty. Following his arraignment, he was held without bail.

According to the Worcester District Attorney’s Office, Rosado stabbed his live-in girlfriend Maria Murray, 53, to death. During his arraignment prosecutors said that prior to stabbing her to death, Rosado assaulted and beat Murray, also with the intent to kill her.

After a 911 call came in at about 8:47 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 26, police responded to the trailer park complex located at 1790 Massachusetts Avenue.

When officers arrived on scene, they found Murray, lying face down on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds to her back. She was transported to a hospital nearby where she was pronounced dead.

Officials say that after stabbing Murray to death, Rosado was caught on surveillance video fleeing from the residence in Murray’s red Subaru Impreza, Boston 25 News reported.

Police later located the vehicle on Interstate 290 in Worcester, pulled Rosado over, and took him into custody, transporting him to the state police barracks in Holden.

According to the arrest report, when investigators interviewed Rosado at the barracks, he said that the fight began during an argument he was having with Murray in the kitchen.

The report added that during the argument, Rosado “then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Maria Murray.”

Rosado is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 6 for a probable cause hearing.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
