WESTFIELD — You can trash your Christmas tree with purpose this year thanks to a non-profit farm in Hampden County.
The Whip City Animal Sanctuary is asking the public to donate their Christmas trees to the farm so they can feed them to their goats.
The only caveats: trees must be real, tinsel and spray-free.
“If they’re through with them, there’s no tinsel, they haven’t been sprayed to keep the needles on, the goats enjoy eating them and it offers some nutrients to the goats as well, and they have a lot of fun with it,” Emma Maloney, a volunteer for the farm, told Spectrum1 News.
The Whip City Animal Sanctuary is a volunteer-run non-profit organization that provides long-term care for animals that have been surrendered, neglected, and/or abused.
If you’d like to donate your tree, Maloney said they can be dropped off outside the sanctuary’s barn anytime.
