ATTLEBORO — A tractor-trailer veered off Interstate 95 North into the woods Wednesday morning during the commuter rush, causing significant traffic delays as drivers tried to navigate around the accident.
The accident took place a bit north of the I-295 interchange.
The truck and its trailer – which were just off the highway – caused extensive backups on I-95 North extending to the South Attleboro line. The delays on I-95 North were compounded by ongoing construction that was already taking place on the roadway, The Attleboro Sun reported.
Traffic was also congested on I-295 between I-95 and Route 1 in North Attleboro. The crash blocked the right travel and breakdown lanes on I-95 North, leaving two lanes open for slow-moving traffic.
