Memorials have flooded social media since his death, with friends and family remembering Cody’s kindness and resilience. “You were always there for me when I needed you most, without question,” Matthew Restuccia posted on Facebook. “The highest of highs, lowest of lows, it didn’t matter. No matter what you had going on in your life, you never complained. Life would knock you down, you always got right back up.”

In Cody’s obituary, his family expressed comfort in knowing that he was enjoying one of his favorite hobbies on a beautiful summer day when he passed. Cody’s family described him as having a taciturn disposition, a knack for speed (he was a track star), and a genuine compassion for animals.

Born on November 1, 1996, in Derry, NH, Cody was the son of Gail A. (Langenfeld) Trudel and David J. Trudel. A track star, Cody still holds Westford Academy’s record for the 55-meter dash, and after graduating in 2015, accepted an athletic scholarship from UMass Lowell where he studied business.

In addition to track and the other town sports he played growing up, Cody also “dipped his toe into the family sport: golf.”

“Cody grew up in a family where golf was a critical life skill, talked about at dinner and a discussion topic on Christmas Eve. He loved to golf with friends, his two brothers and his dad (especially the ‘Father’s Day Foursome’),” Cody’s family said in his obituary. “Described by his dad, as his best friend, the conversations that father and son shared were honest covering world news to real estate projects.”

Cody also shared a close bond with his mom, Gail, with whom he enjoyed nature walks, cooking, and exchanging encouraging notes with.

Cody was also an entrepreneur, starting a side dog-walking service while building a promising career in real estate. He worked at Blood Team Realty Group in Pepperell, where colleagues and customers praised his dedication and the positive experiences they had with him. Cody was known for his compassion and love for animals, often stopping his day to help wildlife in need.

“It is not an exaggeration to say that Cody would stop his day to aid a baby bunny, help a turtle across a busy street or help find a rescue the perfect home. He had a gentle, subtle touch that was appreciated by all who loved him,” his obituary said.

Visitation for Cody Trudel was held on Thursday, July 18, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Tyngsborough Funeral Home. A celebration of life service is scheduled for today, Friday, July 19, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a luncheon at Nashua Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hope For Paws or Newhouse Wildlife Rescue.
