Fitchburg man arrested after getting arm trapped in RV window during break-in attempt at Mosquito Squad

FITCHBURG โ€” On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 5:24 a.m., Officer Florencia Rivas of the Fitchburg Police Department responded to a call at Mosquito Squad, a pest control service specializing in mosquito and tick control located at 22 Kimball Place, where a man was reported to have his left arm trapped in the right-side window of an RV in the parking lot.

โ€œUpon arrival I observed Ziah Allan,โ€ Officer Rivas said. โ€œZiah was hanging from the right window of MA [# redacted], a 2006 Chassi RV. Mosquito Squad staff placed a bucket under his feet to relieve Ziah’s pain.โ€

The Fitchburg Fire Department then arrived on the scene and was able to free Allanโ€™s arm. Allan was evaluated by EMS and did not have any reported injuries, Officer Rivas said.

According to police, Ziah-Joshua Stuart Allan (aka Ziah Allan), 18, resides at 52 Kimball Street in Fitchburg.

โ€œZiah stated he opened the window in an attempt to get inside the RV and that is when he got stuck approximately eight hours ago,โ€ Officer Rivas said. โ€œZiah stating he was there for eight hours proves he was there throughout the night. Ziah stated he has been homeless for a few weeks and wanted a place to sleep.โ€

While Officer Rivas was speaking with Allan, the owner of the RV arrived on scene.

โ€œIt was explained to [the owner of the RV] the reason why officers were on scene was due to Ziah gaining entry into his RV,โ€ Officer Rivas said.

According to Officer Rivasโ€™ Statement of Facts, the RV owner was not related to Allan and did not know him. Officer Rivas concluded that Allan was attempting to break into the RV because he entered with intent and the vehicle was registered to an individual unknown to him.

Officer Rivas arrested Allan and charged him with Breaking and Entering a Vehicle at Night.

Allan was arraigned in Fitchburg District Court on Aug. 13, 2024. Following his arraignment, Allan was released on his own personal recognizance under the condition that he stay at least 100 yards away from the Mosquito Squad at 22 Kimball Place.

Allanโ€™s next court date is a pretrial hearing scheduled for Oct. 15, 2024.
