Chief Howe said that police had investigated a similar incident at the same residence on Friday, Sept. 20. During that investigation, it was determined that someone had poured gasoline on a vehicle parked at the property and along the side of the house and unsuccessfully attempted to set a fire.

After an on-scene investigation Monday, Staite was arrested and charged with attempted arson of a dwelling.
