ORANGE โ€” On Friday, March 3, 2024, at about 1:30 p.m., Officer Evangeline Cakounes of the Orange Police Department was dispatched to the Walmart Supercenter located at 555 E Main Street following a report from an employee that a woman was trespassing at the store.

According to Officer Cakounes, the asset protection manager at Walmart reported that the woman accused of trespassing, identified as Jennel Robideau, may have hidden some items in her purse.

When Officer Cakounes arrived on scene, she located Robideau, who had passed all points of sale and attempted to leave the building. Officer Cakounes and Walmartโ€™s asset protection manager, Natasha, told Robideau to go into the asset protection office.

According to police, Jennel L. Robideau, 34, is a resident of 40 Bacon Street, Orange, MA.

โ€œRobideau was upset and extremely aggressive in her movements,โ€ Officer Cakounes said. โ€œShe kept lifting her hands and bouncing around during the walk to the room. Once inside the asset protection office, I asked Robideau to give me her purse. She grabbed her purse, opened the zipper, and clutched her fist as if she was holding something, and put her hand down the back of her pants.โ€

Officer Cakounes asked Robideau what she was doing and she said, โ€œnothing.โ€

โ€œWhile searching her purse, Robideau was found to have three items concealed in her bag which Natasha was able to confirm had been taken from the store,โ€ Officer Cakounes said. The stolen items located in Robideauโ€™s purse were later valued at approximately $35.00.

โ€œNatasha also addressed the fact that Robideau was trespassed from the store and had been for a couple of years,โ€ Officer Cakounes added. โ€œShe was last caught trespassing two years prior. Robideau is well aware she is not allowed in any Walmart. Due to all of the facts, Robideau was placed under arrest.โ€

Officer Cakounes transported Robideau to the Orange Police Department for booking.

โ€œAt the station, Robideau was strip searched due to the events that took place at the store,โ€ Officer Cakounes said. โ€œA used crack pipe was found in her pants which she finally admitted to putting there.โ€

Robideau was charged with:

  1. Shoplifting by Concealing Merchandise
  2. Trespass

Robideau was arraigned in Orange District Court on May 3, 2024. Following her arrest, she was released on her own personal recognizance.  A default warrant was issued for Robideauโ€™s arrest when she failed to attend a pretrial hearing on June 14, 2024. The default warrant was recalled after she was arrested by Orange police on June 17, 2024. Following her arrest on June 17, Robideau had a new pretrial hearing date scheduled for Aug. 12, 2024, in Orange District Court.
