South Grafton man arrested for dealing crack, possessing Suboxone and Gabapentin during routine traffic stop in Shrewsbury

SHREWSBURY โ€” On Saturday, November 23, 2024, Officer Conor Delaney of the Shrewsbury Police Department initiated a motor vehicle stop at 44 Svenson Road after he observed a blue 2006 GMC Sierra pickup truck with Massachusetts plates and two defective brake lights.

Officer Delaney made contact with the operator, Kenn Allain. After requesting the vehicle’s registration, Mr. Allain went to search his driverโ€™s side overhead visor. It was then that Officer Delaney observed a small clear baggie with a white substance in it fall from the overhead visor into Allainโ€™s lap, which he quickly tucked underneath his leg.

According to police, Kenn J. Allain, 65, is a resident of 29 Ferry Street, South Grafton, MA.

โ€œMr. Allain was then removed from the vehicle,” Officer Delaney said. “After exiting the vehicle, I discovered tucked between the driverโ€™s seat and center console a small clear baggie containing five individual small, knotted-off clear baggies containing a white, rocklike substance identified as crack cocaine, a Class B controlled substance. It was at this time that Mr. Allain was placed in handcuffs.”

While conducting a search incident to arrest, Officer Delaney discovered two additional small, knotted clear baggies containing a white, rock-like substance on Allain’s person, later identified as crack cocaine, a Class B controlled substance. Additionally, nine Suboxone strips were found in his possession.

“Mr. Allain did not have a prescription for the Suboxone strips, a Class B controlled substance,” Officer Delaney added.

In addition, while conducting an inventory of the vehicle, officers discovered two additional small, knotted-off baggies containing crack cocaine. Also discovered in the vehicle was a clear baggie with two white oval pills identified as Gabapentin.

“It was discovered Mr. Allain did not have a prescription for the Gabapentin, a Class E controlled substance,” Officer Delaney said. Adding, “Post Miranda warning, Mr. Allain took ownership of the illegal narcotics found in the vehicle. I also located $556 folded into a rubber band with several bills in denominations of 20s, 10s, 5s, and 1s. Based on this officerโ€™s training and experience, money in this excess and these increments are associated with illegal narcotic distribution.โ€
