FITCHBURG — The City of Fitchburg is seeking proposals for the development of a restaurant or diner at the Fitchburg Municipal Airport, located adjacent to the new Airport Administration Building. The designated site covers 20,000 square feet, is pad-ready, and includes onsite utilities.
In a Facebook post, Mayor Sam Squailia highlighted the location’s accessibility via Routes 2 and 190 and its views of the airport’s new 5,001-foot runway. The location aims to attract both aviation enthusiasts and the local community, offering a potential aviation-themed dining experience.
The city is offering lease terms from 10 to 50 years, with the goal of attracting developers interested in a long-term investment. Developers have the opportunity to design the restaurant to fit their specific concept, with low rental costs per square foot.

The proposal envisions a facility that includes indoor and outdoor dining areas, capitalizing on the location’s views. This effort is part of a plan to enhance the airport’s role as a community and travel hub.
The city’s bid documents – which contain more information – are available here.
Proposals will be accepted until May 1, 2025, at 4:00 pm and will be opened and recorded at that time at the office of the Chief Procurement Officer, City Hall, 718 Main Street, Suite 208, Fitchburg, MA.
