Fire breaks out in residential building in Fitchburg’s Oak Hill district after power restoration

FITCHBURG — Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire in the Oak Hill district early Monday morning after receiving a report of a fire in the building.

According to the Fitchburg Police Department, fire crews from Group 3 were dispatched at 2:34 a.m. on February 17, 2025. Upon arrival, crews observed smoke coming from the first floor of the building and quickly located the source—a fire in the drop ceiling, where electrical receptacles were burning.

Residents told firefighters they had heard a loud pop when power was restored to the building after an outage. Engine 2 crews acted swiftly to extinguish the flames, preventing the fire from spreading beyond the first floor.

No injuries were reported.
