Auburn police officer arrested by state police in online sting operation

AUBURN — An Auburn Police Officer was arrested Monday following an online sting operation conducted by the Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit in Berkshire County, according to a press release issued by the Auburn Police Department.

The officer, identified as Dominick Boschetto, was taken into custody at the Auburn Police Department on April 14, 2025. The arrest warrant was issued based on the results of the recent sting operation. The allegations do not involve on-duty conduct, the department noted.

Boschetto, a resident of Brookfield, has served with the Auburn Police Department since March 2023. Following the arrest, Auburn’s Police Chief Todd Lemon placed Boschetto on administrative leave and launched an internal investigation that will run parallel to the state’s criminal investigation.

Chief Lemon called the allegations “reprehensible and deeply offensive” and emphasized the department’s full cooperation with investigators. He added that the Auburn Police Department holds its officers to the highest standards and is committed to maintaining public trust.

“We work hard every day to maintain the public’s trust and while this matter is extremely concerning, it is not a reflection of the hard working men and women of the Auburn Police Department as a whole,” Lemon said.

The Auburn Police Department stated that it has limited information about the case and directed further inquiries to the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office, which is overseeing the investigation.
