Abandoned dog tied to fence near train tracks behind Encore Boston Harbor in Everett rescued

EVERETT — An abandoned dog tied to a fence along the train tracks behind Encore Boston Harbor, a luxury hotel and casino at 1 Broadway, was rescued Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Everett Police Department, around 2:20 p.m., Everett Dispatch received a call from an Encore employee reporting a dog that appeared to be on or near the tracks. Everett Animal Control Officer Stacia Gorgone, along with Everett fire and police personnel, responded to the scene.

The dog was found tied to a fence within the rail yard. Since the area is part of an active railway, Everett Dispatch coordinated with the MBTA to ensure the tracks were clear so first responders could enter safely.

With assistance from the Everett Fire Department, Animal Control Officer Gorgone accessed the fenced yard and secured the dog.

The Everett Police Department stated that the dog is now safe and in good condition.

  1. How could someone do this to such a precious babydoll? If a train would have driven through there, she probably would have freaked out being soo scared and been killed. Those kind of people don\’t deserve to live themselves and need to be locked up away!
