WESTBOROUGH — The Worcester man who died in a motorcycle crash at the rear entrance of Speedway Plaza earlier this week has been identified as 26-year-old Juan Carlos Colon Jr., according to a spokesperson for the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:24 p.m. on Monday, June 23, near 290 Turnpike Road. According to Westborough Police Chief Todd Minardi, first responders arrived to find the motorcycle operator unresponsive in a grassy area adjacent to the plaza’s rear driveway.
A preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle had been traveling westbound on Route 9 when it left the roadway and struck the base of a concrete light pole. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the accident.
Paramedics from the Westborough Fire Department transported the man to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Westborough Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit in coordination with the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
