Man arrested after firing two shots during argument outside Main Street business in Tewksbury

TEWKSBURY — On Thursday, July 3, at approximately 11 p.m., Tewksbury police were dispatched to the area of 1928 Main Street following reports of gunfire.

“Multiple officers responded to the area and determined that an individual fired two gunshots while involved in an argument with other individuals outside of a Main Street business,” Tewksbury’s Police Chief Ryan Columbus said in a statement.

The officers located two spent shell casings at the scene.

According to Chief Columbus, the results of a preliminary investigation identified Craig Collins, 38, of Tewksbury, as a suspect.

Officers located Collins at his home in Tewksbury a short time later and took him into custody without incident. Police later located a loaded firearm, Chief Columbus said.

Collins was charged with the following:

  • Assault With a Dangerous Weapon (two counts)
  • Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Building (two counts)
  • Disorderly Conduct

Collinshad a license to carry firearms, but his license was immediately revoked by the Tewksbury Police Department upon his arrest,” Chief Columbus said.

Collins is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, July 7, 2025, in Lowell District Court.
