Traffic stop in Clinton reveals wanted Marlborough man; arrest ends with hospital visit

CLINTON โ€” At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, Clinton Police Officer Kyle Grady was traveling west on Sterling Street in a partially marked cruiser when he approached a red light at the intersection of Main Street and took note of the vehicle ahead of him โ€” a white 2022 Dodge Ram 2500 with Massachusetts plates.

โ€œI conducted a random inquiry through my Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) of the registration,โ€ Officer Grady said. โ€œThe inquiry showed that the vehicle had a โ€˜failedโ€™ inspection sticker with the date of January 17, 2025.โ€

Officer Grady said the inquiry also revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle, Christopher Winske, had two active straight warrants out of Marlborough District Court.

According to police, Christopher A. Winske, 37, is a resident of Stow Road in Marlborough, MA.

โ€œAt that time, as we traveled westbound on Sterling Street, I activated my overhead emergency blue lights to conduct a motor vehicle stop,โ€ Officer Grady said. โ€œThe vehicle came to a stop near the intersection of Sterling Street and Highland Street. I notified dispatch of my location and approached the vehicle from the driver’s side.โ€

At this time, Sergeant Joseph Lefebvre arrived on scene to assist.

โ€œI made contact with the driver, who I positively identified as Christopher Winske,โ€ Officer Grady said. โ€œI advised him of his failed inspection sticker. I then asked dispatch to confirm his active warrants, which they did. I then asked Christopher to step out of the vehicle to speak with me in private. Christopher was placed under arrest and handcuffed behind his back.โ€

Officer Grady then escorted Winske to the rear of Sgt. Lefebvreโ€™s cruiser.

โ€œAt that time, Officer Michael Frick arrived on scene to assist,โ€ Officer Grady said. โ€œThe passenger of the vehicle was identified as [34-year-old] John [last name redacted]. It was determined that John’s license to operate a motor vehicle was suspended, so Guaranty Auto was called for a tow. A motor vehicle inventory was completed per written department policy prior to Guaranty Auto taking possession of the vehicle.โ€

Winske was transported to the Clinton Police Department for booking.

โ€œThe Bail Commissioner was contacted and affirmed that Christopher would be held for court,โ€ Officer Grady said. โ€œWhile in booking, Christopher complained of chest pain and numbness in his left hand. He was transported to UMass Clinton Hospital for treatment.โ€

Winske was arrested on two active warrants out of Marlborough District Court and cited for driving a vehicle with a failed inspection sticker.

If youโ€™re wondering why this incident took place in April, itโ€™s because I had to file FOIA requests to obtain the court documents. Those take time โ€” and the Fourth of July is a slow news day.
