“I proceeded to this location to investigate and provide assistance,” Officer Deschamps said.
Sergeant Troy Chauvin, Officer Brian Fleury and Officer Patrick Patenaude were also dispatched to the scene to assist.
“Upon arrival at 8 Highland Park Road, I was waved down by a male standing in the road in front of 8 Highland Park Road,” Officer Deschamps said. “I exited my cruiser and was introduced to Matthew [last name redacted], the reporting party. He informed me that the man that had come into his house was known to him, and lived at 1 Highland Park Road and was named David. [Matthew] stated he had met him two days prior. [Matthew] also informed me that ‘David’ called himself “bulldog.’ I recognized this individual to be David Bolduc.”

According to police, David J. Bolduc, 38, is a resident of 1 Highland Park Road in Rutland, MA. Court documents indicate he’s single and unemployed.
“I asked [Matthew] to explain what had occurred, he informed me that he had been in his kitchen which is adjacent to the mudroom when he noticed his dog started barking at the mudroom door,” Officer Deschamps said.
Matthew looked out his window and saw Bolduc in his mudroom knocking on the windows and doors.
“When Bolduc noticed [Matthew], he began to scream ‘Hey!’ and ‘Hello!’” Officer Deschamps said. “[Matthew] then went out to the mudroom to confront Bolduc and was able to ‘rustle’ him out of his property.”

The two began talking in Matthew’s driveway.
“[Matthew] stated that he felt uneasy while talking to Bolduc and felt like Bolduc was being really weird, aggressive and felt like Bolduc wanted to fight,” Officer Deschamps said.
Officer Deschamps said that Matthew stated he believed Bolduc was drunk. Eventually, Bolduc’s mother walked down Highland Park Road and began yelling at him to return home. Bolduc then left Matthew’s property.
“[Matthew] was explicitly clear that he did not want any charges filed and did not want any audio/video body cam footage taken to court,” Officer Deschamps said. “He expressed this desire multiple times throughout our conversation. [Matthew] seemed very scared of getting involved with Bolduc further. He asked several times for the police cruisers to leave the front of his house. [Matthew] said he only called because he wanted what had happened to be documented. He said at one point ‘He (Bolduc) scares the f*ck out of me.’”
Officer Deschamps asked Matthew if his mudroom door could be locked, and Matthew confirmed that it could. Officer Deschamps then advised him to lock it and to ensure that all other doors and windows were securely locked.
“During our conversation, [Matthew] asked me to turn off my body camera. I complied,” Officer Deschamps said. “He then informed me that Bolduc had told him directly while out in the driveway that he carries a .22 Caliber Deringer always. [Matthew] did not see the firearm.”
Officer Deschamps said that he, Officer Fleury and Officer Patenaude, then convened at Bill’s Garage to discuss their plan of action. A short time later, Sergeant Chauvin arrived on scene.
“Due to [Matthew’s] adamance to not press charges, an arrest report was pulled with plans to be possibly submitted to court at a later date when [Matthew] had time to digest the incident he just went through further,” Officer Deschamps said. “At 11:45 p.m., Officer Brent Carpenter and Officer Samuel Perotto were dispatched to 8 Highland Park Road to speak with [Matthew].”
Officer Deschamps said he was informed by Officer Carpenter that Matthew now wished to file charges against Bolduc, but did not want to appear in court.
“I will be following up with David Bolduc’s probation officer on my following shift on May 16, 2025,” Officer Deschamps said.
Officer Deschamps submitted the following charges against Bolduc:
- Breaking and Entering with Intent to Commit a Misdemeanor
Bolduc’s arraignment was scheduled for May 16, 2025, in East Brookfield District Court.
Disclaimer: If you are wondering why the incident in this story took place in May, that’s because I had to file FOIA request(s) to obtain the court documents. FOIAs are time-consuming.
