Car engulfed in flames on Jasper Street in Westborough, fire crews respond

WESTBOROUGH — A red sedan caught fire on Jasper Street Monday afternoon, sending flames and heavy black smoke into the air and prompting a response from Westborough Fire Department’s Engine 4.

According to a social media post made by the Westborough Fire Department at approximately 3:36 p.m. on July 15, firefighters were actively working to extinguish the auto fire and warned drivers to expect delays in the area.

A video posted by the department shows a red sedan fully engulfed, with flames pouring from the passenger compartment and roof. Two firefighters in full gear are visible approaching the vehicle with a hose, as dark smoke rises high above nearby businesses.

No injuries were immediately reported, and the cause of the fire has not yet been released.
