Marlborough man charged with drunken driving, trafficking methadone after Southborough traffic stop

SOUTHBOROUGH — A 29-year-old Marlborough man was arrested in Southborough following a traffic stop which resulted in charges of drunken driving and trafficking methadone.

According to a statement from Southborough’s Police Chief Ryan Newell, at approximately 1:30 a.m., on Monday, Aug. 4, 2025, Officer Theodore Davis was providing backup on a traffic stop when he determined another vehicle driving by had an expired registration.

Officer Davis stopped the car near 118 Framingham Road and noted that the vehicle was moving in a way that suggested the occupants were shifting around inside.

Officer Davis identified the driver as Sebastian Joubert, age 29, of Marlborough, “and detected a strong odor of alcohol.”

“Following an on-scene investigation, Joubert was arrested for Operating Under the Influence,” Chief Newell said. Adding, “During a search of the vehicle, officers located a bag in the back seat that contained 627 methadone pills weighing approximately 158 grams, 88 grams of marijuana, and paraphernalia associated with drug distribution.”

Police say the methadone pills were in prescription bottles prescribed to a different person and police also located a debit card under a different person’s name. The vehicle Joubert was driving was also missing a front license plate.

Sebastian Joubert was arrested and charged with the following:

  1. Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
  2. Trafficking Methadone (Over 100 Grams)
  3. Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug
  4. Receiving a Lost Credit Card
  5. Unregistered Motor Vehicle
  6. Failure to Wear a Seat Belt
  7. Number Plate Violation

Joubert was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, Aug. 4, 2025, in Westborough District Court.
