“Joseph [last name redacted], a first-floor tenant, called 911 reporting Derick Brock had attacked him inside his apartment, and was also kicking his door and continuing the assault,” Sgt. Megas said.
According to police, Derick E. Brock, 40, is a resident of Brandon Road in Dudley, MA.
“Upon arrival, I found [Joseph] at the front door with fresh, bloody facial injuries,” Sgt. Megas said. “He stated Brock had punched him before fleeing around the building. I immediately requested an ambulance and began searching the property.”

Dudley Police Officer Tyler Smith was also dispatched to the scene to assist.
“While on the left side of the building, I observed Brock, who is approximately 6’02”, approaching me with a bloodied hand,” Sgt. Megas said. “Brock was unsteady on his feet and agitated – I ordered him to stop and lie on the ground. He ignored my commands and continued to advance toward me. Fearing a physical assault, I stepped back, drew and activated my taser, and again yelled at him to stop. Brock continued his advance.”
At this time, Sergeant Megas said Officer Smith arrived, and had his taser drawn and activated.
“Brock then lunged at me, and Officer Smith deployed his taser, striking Brock in the lower back with one probe,” Sgt. Megas said. “Brock fell to the ground but immediately attempted to get back up. As we tried to handcuff him, he began pulling his arms away and screaming. After a struggle, we successfully handcuffed him with double cuffs. As we escorted him toward my cruiser, Brock lifted his foot and stomped on Officer Smith’s foot. He continued screaming and resisting, attempting to pull away from us. At one point, he squeezed Officer Smith’s hand, causing Officer Smith to yell in pain at him to stop.”
The officers then searched Brock and placed him into a cruiser.
“Officer Smith interviewed [Joseph], who explained that after Brock had been in a fight with Angel Torres, [Joseph] allowed Brock into his apartment to cool off,” Sgt. Megas said. “Brock then began kicking furniture, and when [Joseph] told him to leave, Brock attacked him by punching him in the face. Brock then left the residence but remained on the property, prompting [Joseph] to call the police.”
Sergeant Megas said Joseph was treated by paramedics at the scene and declined transport to the hospital.
At this time, Sergeant Megas transported Brock to the Dudley Police Department for booking.
“Brock was uncooperative throughout the booking process, screaming at both Officer Smith and me,” Sgt. Megas said. “We notified Dudley EMS to respond to the station to remove the taser probe and treat Brock’s visible injuries sustained during the assaults on [Joseph] and us. Brock refused to be photographed for booking. Due to his volatile and violent behavior, we did not fingerprint him.”
Brock’s bail was set at $750.
“Brock refused to make any telephone calls. Given his continued screaming and refusal to cooperate, I transported him to the Webster Police Department for holding,” Sgt. Megas said.
Derick Brock was charged with the following:
- Assault & Battery on 60+/Disabled (Joseph Niemiec victim)
- Assault & Battery, Serious Bodily Injury (Joseph Niemiec victim)
- Assault & Battery on Police Officer (two counts)
- Resist Arrest
Brock was arraigned in Dudley District Court on June 16, 2025.
He attended a pretrial hearing on July 15, 2025.
Brock’s next court date is a compliance and election hearing scheduled for September 8, 2025.
