FITCHBURG — A small plane flipped onto its roof while attempting to land at Fitchburg Municipal Airport on Saturday morning.
According to a statement from the Fitchburg Fire Department, at approximately 10:18 a.m., on Aug. 23, 2025, Group 3 companies were dispatched to the airport following a report of a plane crash.
Fire officials said the aircraft overturned after a headwind shifted into a crosswind during landing.
The pilot, who was the sole occupant, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The airport was closed temporarily following the crash.
