“He stated that he was the operator of the vehicle and no one else was involved in the crash,” Officer William said. “I then asked if he needed to be checked out by EMS [Emergency Medical Services] to which he replied, ‘No, I am okay.'”
Officer William said he could not see any physical injuries on the man.
“I advised the male that EMS is on their way and they will still want to check him out given that there were multiple air bags deployed inside his vehicle from the crash,” Officer William said. “I advised dispatch that the vehicle was bearing MA Registration [# redacted] and needed to be towed. I then asked the male for his license to which he provided me. The male was identified as Mr. Ramiro Duarte Sanchez.”
According to police, Ramiro Duarte Sanchez, 33, is a resident of Webster, MA.
Officer William said that when West Boylston EMS arrived on scene, they evaluated Duarte Sanchez and he denied further evaluation and transportation to the hospital.
“I then asked Mr. Duarte Sanchez what caused the motor vehicle accident to occur. Mr. Duarte Sanchez stated that another vehicle was traveling northbound as he was traveling southbound,” Officer William said. “This unknown vehicle had bright headlights and Mr. Duarte Sanchez believed that the other vehicle was in his lane of travel (southbound lane). That is when he veered over to the right side along the white fog line to avoid the other vehicle. Mr. Duarte Sanchez could not give a description of the vehicle that may have veered into his lane of travel. Mr. Duarte Sanchez was then picked up by his friend [name redacted].”
Officer William said that he and Sergeant Provencal then investigated the crash further.
“The vehicle ended up between WBLD [West Boylston Light Department] pole #77 and #78,” Officer William said. “After walking northbound on Lancaster Street from where the vehicle was parked, I noticed tire tracks that started on the front lawn of 351 Lancaster Street, which then led all the way to where the vehicle was parked which was just before the driveway of 337 Lancaster Street.”
Officer William said it was determined that the vehicle, which was traveling southbound, veered off of the roadway in front of 351 Lancaster Street, continued traveling along the edge of the woodline, and ultimately struck the West Boylston Municipal Light Department’s pole #79.
“The utility pole caused significant damage to the vehicle and eventually snapped in
half and was launched across the north and southbound lanes coming to rest in the front yard of 354 Lancaster Street,” Officer William said. “The vehicle traveled approximately 260 feet from where the tire marks in the front yard of 351 Lancaster Street to where the vehicle came to rest.”
Officer William added: “Given how long it took the vehicle to come to rest after failing to maintain its lane of travel (crossing fully over the fog line), losing the front passenger tire resulting in the car body dragging on the ground, and the extent of the damage done to the vehicle from colliding with a utility pole, through my training and experience I determined that the operator of this vehicle was traveling well over the posted speed limit of 40 miles per hour and failed to keep control of the vehicle.”
Officer William issued Ramiro Duarte Sanchez a criminal citation in the mail for the following:
- Negligent Operation of Motor Vehicle
- Marked Lanes Violation
- Speeding
Duarte Sanchez’s arraignment was scheduled for August 4, 2025, in Clinton District Court.
