Worcester man sentenced to seven years in prison for role in cocaine distribution conspiracy

BOSTON — A Worcester man was sentenced in federal court yesterday for participating in a cocaine distribution conspiracy.

According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, Hector Torres, 33, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman to seven years in prison and five years of supervised release.

In May 2025, Torres pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and two counts of possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. He was indicted by a federal grand jury in November 2023.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, in or around June 2022, authorities intercepted a package sent from Puerto Rico to Worcester containing about 6.5 kilograms of cocaine. On June 21, 2022, law enforcement conducted a controlled delivery of the package.

“While accepting the delivered package, Torres apologized for not being there earlier, took the package, and set it on the ground in order to sign for delivery,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts said in its statement. “When law enforcement attempted to arrest Torres, he fled on foot and was subsequently apprehended.”

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kaitlin J. Brown of the Worcester Branch Office.
