BERLIN — A 23-year-old man from a neighboring town was killed Sunday night after crashing his motorcycle into a home near the intersection of West Street and Randall Road.
According to a statement from Berlin’s Police Chief Eric Schartner, the preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle was traveling west on West Street around 9:31 p.m. on August 31 when the operator lost control. The motorcycle struck the house, and the rider was found nearby, police said. No one inside the home was injured.
Berlin Fire/EMS responded and provided lifesaving aid, but the man died at the scene. His name has not been released, pending family notification.
“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time,” Chief Schartner said in a written statement. “It truly is a tragic event and a life taken too soon is heartbreaking for his loved ones as well as the first responders on scene.”
The Berlin Police Department is investigating the crash with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Reconstruction Team.
