Webster man accused of breaking cop’s finger during violent arrest after traffic stop

WEBSTER — On Sunday, September 14, 2025, at approximately 12:48 a.m. Webster Police Officer Bryan Blomgren was patrolling Main Street when he observed a vehicle as it went through a red light at the intersection of Main Street and Chase Avenue.

According to a statement from the Webster Police Department, when Officer Blomgren activated the emergency lights on his cruiser, the driver pulled into an apartment complex located at 77-91.5 Chase Avenue.

“Upon parking the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Oscar Ucher, abruptly got out and walked over to a basement door that led to a multi-family apartment building at 77 Chase Ave,” the Webster Police Department said in its statement.

According to police, Oscar Ucher, 34, resides in an apartment at 77 Chase Avenue in Webster, MA.

“Officer Blomgren ordered Mr. Ucher back into the vehicle and requested his identification, however, Mr. Ucher refused to listen to commands and began opening the door to the basement,” the Webster Police Department said.

Officer Blomgren then called for backup and told Ucher that if he didn’t identify himself he would be placed under arrest.

“Mr. Ucher still refused to listen to Officer Blomgren and tried to enter the basement door which led to an apartment,” the Webster Police Department said. “Officer Blomgren attempted to place Mr. Ucher under arrest which is when he violently resisted and began screaming. Officer Blomgren began physically struggling with Mr. Ucher as they entered the apartment and was assaulted by Mr. Ucher several times.”

Officer Alex Johnson arrived at the scene but was initially unable to locate Officer Blomgren because Ucher and a female accomplice had closed the apartment door.

“Officer Blomgren was able to open the door in the midst of the incident and Officer Johnson proceeded inside,” the Webster Police Department said. “Upon seeing Officer Johnson, Mr. Ucher yelled to close the door in an attempt to trap Officer Blomgren alone inside.”

Officer Johnson ran inside and ordered Ucher to the ground.

Ucher refused to comply and pushed Officer Johnson, prompting officers to bring him to the ground.

“While on the ground, Mr. Ucher began reaching his hand towards his waist band as if he was trying to get a weapon, and continued resisting,” the Webster Police Department said. “Officer Johnson delivered several defensive tactic strikes and a taser deployment in order to place Mr. Ucher under arrest.”

With the assistance of Dudley Police Officers Byron Lara and Jeffrey Forcier, who had also responded to the scene, Ucher was taken into custody.

“As a result of the assault by Mr. Ucher, Officer Blomgren suffered a broken finger and Officer Johnson sustained minor injuries,” the Webster Police Department said.

Oscar Ucher was charged with the following:

  1. Assault & Battery on Police Officer (two counts)
  2. Aggravated Assault & Battery on Police Officer Causing Serious Bodily Injury
  3. Resisting Arrest
  4. Disorderly Conduct
  5. Refuse to Identify as a Motor Vehicle Operator
  6. Fail to Stop/Yield

Ucher was arraigned in Dudley District Court on Monday, September 15, and is currently out on $2,000 cash bail.
