CLINTON — A potential threat against one of Clinton’s schools was swiftly neutralized Monday morning after a social media post was flagged by federal authorities, according to school and police officials.
Clinton Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Steven C. Meyer issued a press release confirming that on the morning of September 29, the FBI alerted the Clinton Police Department to a social media post that appeared to pose a potential threat.
“The Clinton Police Department, upon getting the information from the FBI, investigated the situation and identified a suspect,” Meyer wrote. “This suspect was placed into custody a short time later without incident.”
While the nature of the threat was not disclosed, officials emphasized that there is no ongoing danger to students or staff.
“At this time, there is no current threat to the schools; however, the matter remains under investigation,” Meyer stated. “We will continue to cooperate with the Clinton Police Department during their investigation. If there are any further developments we will update you as necessary.”
No additional details were released about the suspect or the contents of the social media post.
