Seven displaced after Fitchburg apartment fire; dog resuscitated by EMS

FITCHBURG — At approximately 1:35 p.m. today, Fitchburg Fire Department Group 3 companies were dispatched to Harvard Street following reports of a residential fire.

According to a statement from the Fitchburg Fire Department, first-arriving crews found an active fire inside an apartment.

Firefighters quickly stretched attack lines, established a water supply, and knocked down the blaze before conducting overhaul operations to ensure it was fully extinguished.

While no injuries were reported, emergency medical personnel resuscitated a pet dog found unresponsive at the scene.

Seven residents were displaced as a result of the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the blaze was not immediately released.
