Two displaced after fire breaks out on Central Street in Framingham

FRAMINGHAM — At approximately 8:58 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, the Framingham Fire Department was dispatched to 9 Central Street following a report of a potential fire.

According to a statement from the Framingham Fire Department, when Engine 2 arrived on scene, smoke was observed coming from the building, which confirmed that a working fire was in progress. In response, Engine 7, Engine 5, Rescue 1, Tower 1 and Command 2 were also dispatched to the scene.

Shortly after their arrival, crews found out that the fire was between the second and third floor walls of the mixed-use building.

“Due to the fire’s location within the wall, the construction type, and the windy conditions, Deputy Fire Chief Nader Hamed struck a second alarm to bring additional resources to the scene,” the Framingham Fire Department said in its statement.

The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes.

“Great aggressive work by Group 3 kept the fire loss to a minimum,” Assistant Fire Chief John Schultz said.

Two people who were displaced by the fire are being assisted by the American Red Cross, the Framingham Fire Department said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
