TAUNTON — A Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School junior has earned first place in the national high school category of the “Wicked: For Good” student poster contest, sponsored by the NBCU Academy.
According to a statement from Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School Superintendent Alexandre Magalhaes, Percy Duphily’s winning poster, created as part of a nationwide call for students to show how they can make a positive difference in their communities, was selected as the top entry among more than 900 submissions in the high school division. There contest drew more than 2,000 entries nationwide.
Bristol-Plymouth administrators learned of Duphily’s win on Tuesday morning.

Duphily is a student in the school’s Design and Visual Communications program, where she developed her submission in response to the contest prompt.
“This is a remarkable achievement for Percy and a proud moment for our entire school community,” said Superintendent-Director Dr. Alexandre Magalhaes. “Our students display skill, creativity and purpose in their technical programs every day, and Percy’s work is just one more example of that.”
Design and Visual Communications instructor Brendan Flynn praised Duphily’s dedication to the project.
“Percy is thoughtful, hardworking and passionate about her craft,” he said. “This award is well earned, and it shows what students can achieve when they have the tools and space to express their ideas.”
As part of the award, contest organizers will send prize packages to Bristol-Plymouth, including 35 Fandango gift cards to see “Wicked: For Good” in theaters and “Wicked”-themed merchandise for students. The school plans to distribute the items within the Design and Visual Communications program.
