HAVERHILL — On Monday, June 29, 2026, at approximately 7:18 p.m., Taunton Police Officer Rude Andrade was dispatched to a residence on Cypress Road following a report of a possible domestic disturbance.

Officer Denzel Santos also responded to the scene.
“Upon arrival, this officer was met with [the reporting party], who stated he was attacked by his brother, Bryan Vieira,” Officer Andrade said.
According to police, Bryan M. Vieria, 41, is a resident of Cypress Road in Taunton, MA.
“[The reporting party] showed officers bruises on his arms,” Officer Andrade said. “[He] then stated that Bryan is at the back of the house.”
Officer Andrade said he then made contact with Vieria.
“Bryan stated he does not want to speak with me, then stated: ‘[N-word], get away from me,’” Officer Andrade said.
According to Officer Andrade, Vieira then ran west toward Lothrop Street.
Officer Andrade said he located Vieria in the area of Minute Man Road, but he continued to run.
“This officer told Bryan he was being placed under arrest for domestic assault and battery,” Officer Andrade said. “Bryan then became aggressive towards this officer and began fighting, and this officer assisted Bryan to the ground.”
Officer Andrade then handcuffed Vieria and assisted him to his feet.
“Bryan then kicked this officer in the thigh area,” Officer Andrade said.
Vieria was then escorted to the rear of a cruiser.
“Bryan was then transported to the Taunton Police Headquarters for booking by Officer Santos in accordance with the Taunton Police Policy,” Officer Andrade said.
Officer Andrade returned to the residence at Cypress Road and spoke with the reporting party who said that Vieria was arguing with his mother over $20.00.
“[The reporting party] stated he then intervened, and Bryan lunged at him,” Officer Andrade said. “[He] stated that Bryan then pushed him into the fridge, and he defended himself by getting Bryan off him, and then Bryan bit his right inner arm.”
The reporting party then told Vieira to leave, and he exited the house, which court documents identify as his residence.
“[The reporting party] stated he did not want Bryan to return home, and this officer advised [him] to begin the eviction process through the housing court,” Officer Andrade said. “This officer also advised all parties involved on 209A restraining order rights, which will be pursued through the courts.”
The reporting party added that Vieria had been drinking prior to the disturbance.
Bryan M. Vieria, 41, of Cypress Road in Taunton, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Assault & Battery
- Assault & Battery on Police Officer
Vieria was arraigned in Taunton District Court on June 30, 2026. Following his arraignment, Vieria was released on personal recognizance under the condition that he not abuse the victim.
Vieria then attended a pretrial hearing on July 30, 2026.
At his next hearing, on Aug. 4, 2026, the assault and battery charge was dismissed at the Commonwealth’s request. Vieira pleaded guilty to assault and battery on a police officer and was placed on probation until Feb. 2, 2027. As a condition of his six-month probation, he was required to undergo a mental health evaluation.
