Two-alarm kitchen fire displaces residents at Maynard condo building

MAYNARD — On Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at approximately 3:06 p.m., the Maynard Fire Department was notified of a kitchen fire in Unit 3 of the condominium complex located at 15 Deer Path.

According to a statement from Maynard Fire Chief Angela Lawless, a Maynard Fire Department engine was out of town providing mutual aid at a three-alarm fire in Lincoln, so the department’s ladder truck responded to the fire with mutual aid support.

When fire crews arrived on scene, they observed heavy smoke and flames coming from the kitchen of Unit 3.

A second alarm was struck, bringing additional mutual aid resources to the scene, as well as the Maynard Fire Department’s engine, which responded from Lincoln.

“Maynard and mutual aid companies were able to contain the fire to the kitchen of Unit 3, preventing extension to neighboring units, though two neighboring units did suffer smoke damage,” Chief Lawless said.

No injuries were reported. Four residents were displaced as a result of the fire.

Mutual aid was provided by fire departments from Boxborough, Hudson, Marlborough, Framingham, Stow, Sudbury, Concord, and PRO ALS.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Maynard Fire Department and District 14 Fire Investigators.

“Our mutual aid system was tested by two multi-alarm fires both here and in Lincoln, but this response shows how well the system we’ve established operates, and the great value of mutual aid agreements,” Chief Lawless said. “We train with other departments regularly and support one another when one of us is in need.”
