Resident’s report leads to Life Flight response after rollover crash in Berlin

BERLIN — A single-vehicle rollover crash late last night on Linden Street resulted in one person being airlifted to a trauma center after a resident reported the vehicle off the roadway and the occupant ejected.

According to a statement from the Berlin Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 11:35 p.m. on December 19, 2025, when a resident traveling home noticed a vehicle that had left the roadway, rolled over a guardrail, and come to rest about 20 feet down a ravine.

The resident reported that the vehicle’s occupant had been ejected and was found facedown near a stream with serious injuries. Police said the detailed information allowed dispatchers to send appropriate emergency resources immediately.

Responding agencies included the Berlin Police Department, Berlin Fire Department & EMS, and Bolton Fire Paramedics, with a medical helicopter from UMass Memorial Life Flight requested to the scene.

Emergency personnel safely extricated the patient from the ravine, assessed the injuries on scene, and transported the individual by helicopter to a local trauma center. Authorities said the injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

Police credited the resident’s prompt report with aiding the emergency response and ensuring the injured person was located quickly.

“We would like to commend the attentiveness and quick action of this resident,” the Berlin Police Department said in its statement. “Their awareness and assistance played a significant role in the response, and the patient’s outcome may not have been as favorable had the accident gone unnoticed.”
