Franklin firefighters respond to basement fire on Pond Street

FRANKLIN — On Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the Metacomet Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting a possible structure fire at 1130 Pond Street, and Franklin Fire Department units responded to the scene.

According to a statement from Franklin’s Fire Chief Charles Allen, when fire units arrived on scene, they located a fire in the basement of a residential home, and extinguished it within 20 minutes of the first unit’s arrival.

The home was unoccupied when firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported.

The Franklin Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the fire departments from Bellingham, Medway, Milford, Plainville and Wrentham. The Foxboro Fire Department provided station coverage during the incident.

Chief Allen said the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Franklin Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
