Four people transported to hospital following three-car accident on Route 20 in Shrewsbury

SHREWSBURY — The Shrewsbury Fire Department responded to two separate three-vehicle motor vehicle crashes today, one of which involved entrapment and multiple injuries.

According to a statement from the Shrewsbury Fire Department posted to social media at approximately 2:05 p.m., the first crash took place on Route 20 and involved three vehicles.

Engine 3 personnel extricated an individual trapped in one of the vehicles, and paramedics from Shrewsbury Emergency Medical Services treated four individuals at the scene.

Two ambulances were required to transport the injured individuals to the hospital, the Shrewsbury Fire Department said.

While returning to the station following that response, Engine 3 personnel witnessed a second three-vehicle crash and stopped to provide assistance. Fire officials said that incident resulted in only minor injuries, and no ambulance transport was required.

No further details on the causes of either crash were immediately available.
