FAIRHAVEN — On Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Fairhaven police responded to a report of a stabbing which took place outside a residence on Cherry Street following an altercation.
According to a statement from Fairhaven Police Chief Daniel Dorgan, three individuals sustained knife wounds during the incident, including one victim who was critically injured.
At the scene, police located a firearm that had been carried by the suspect.
Chief Dorgan said a search for the suspect was ongoing as of Monday.
A preliminary investigation determined the incident was not random, and police said the victims and suspect are known to each other.
“Fairhaven police and Massachusetts State Police are investigating, but Fairhaven Police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing danger to the public,” Chief Dorgan said in the statement.
