Moped crash in Worcester leads to arrest of 20-year-old found with untraceable “ghost gun”

WORCESTER — On Saturday, January 10, 2026, at approximately 7:06 p.m., Worcester police officers were dispatched to Chandler Street following a report of an accident with injury.

According to a statement from the Worcester Police Department, when officers arrived on scene, they observed a male lying in the roadway near a moped, with debris scattered around the area.

“The male was brought into an ambulance,” the Worcester Police Department said in its statement. “A short time later, officers were given a cross-body bag that was removed from him in the ambulance.”

Inside the cross-body bag, police found a firearm with no serial number that was determined to be untraceable, commonly referred to as a “ghost gun.”

Police said further investigation determined the man — identified as Kayo Nascimento, 20, of Worcester — does not have a license to carry.

Kayo Nascimento was charged with the following:

  • Carrying a firearm without a license
  • Carrying a loaded firearm without a license
  • Improper storage of a firearm
  • Carrying ammunition without an FID card
  • Defacing the serial number of a firearm

No additional details about the incident were released.
