MEDWAY — An unidentified adult man was killed this morning following a single-vehicle crash on Summer Street.
According to a statement from the Medway Police Department, the crash happened at approximately 8:50 a.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound near Amelia Drive left the roadway and crashed into the front yard of a residence at 26 Summer Street.
According to police, the vehicle caught fire after the crash.
“Two bystanders intervened, entering the area of the burning vehicle and removing the lone occupant to a safe location away from the flames,” the Medway Police Department said in its statement.
Medway Fire/EMS and Medway police responded to the scene. The victim was transported by ambulance to Milford Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased, police said.
“The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CAR) was requested and is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash,” the Medway Police Department said.
Medway police detectives are working to identify the victim.
Medway police said no additional information will be released until the victim is positively identified and next of kin are notified.
