ACTON — Town Manager John S. Mangiaratti announced that the Town of Acton has dedicated $30,000 to offer a childcare subsidy program for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year.
The funding was approved through Article 5, which residents voted on at the 2025 Annual Town Meeting, according to the announcement.
The program is intended to reduce financial barriers for families seeking childcare while pursuing employment, education, training, or job search activities, with care provided in regulated settings.

Under the program, selected families will receive $2,000 to help cover childcare or after-school care costs for children ages 13 and under. Funds may be used with any Department of Early Education and Care licensed provider, the Acton Recreation “No School Days” program, or the Extended Day program through Community Education.
Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible families with household incomes at or below 80% of the area median income, the town said.
Once approved, payments will be made directly to the childcare provider.
Applications opened Jan. 20. Questions about the program or application can be directed to the Community Services Office at 978-929-6651 or lducharme@actonma.gov.
