Leominster woman killed in two-vehicle crash on Route 9 in Southborough

SOUTHBOROUGH — On Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, at approximately 2:51 a.m., the Southborough police and fire departments responded to Turnpike Road (Route 9 East) after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a serious motor vehicle crash.

According to Southborough Police Chief Ryan Newell, when first responders arrived on scene, they located the aftermath of a two-vehicle crash.

One of the drivers, a 37-year-old woman from Leominster, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 23-year-old woman from Bolton, was transported by Southborough fire to a local hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, Chief Newell said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Southborough Police Department, along with the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (CEMLEC) Crash Reconstruction Team and the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
