SOUTHBOROUGH — On Sunday, June 14, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Southborough police responded to 98 Southville Road following a report that a vehicle had crashed into a home.
According to Southborough Police Chief Ryan Newell, when officers arrived on scene, they located a black 2009 Pontiac Vibe that had crashed into the northwest corner of the home. Police also found a utility pole with minor damage to it near the home’s driveway.
The home sustained minor damage, but the vehicle’s entire front end was crushed and all of its airbags had deployed, Chief Newell said.
The vehicle was unoccupied when officers arrived on scene, but police soon located the driver and a passenger nearby.
The driver was identified as Luis Fernando Mazariegos Castillo, 18, of Framingham.
Chief Newell said a preliminary investigation found that after crashing into the house, Mazariegos Castillo allegedly removed bottles and cans of alcohol from the vehicle and attempted to hide them nearby.
A subsequent investigation determined that Mazariegos Castillo had been operating under the influence, according to police. Chief Newell said Mazariegos Castillo was taken into custody without incident.
Luis Fernando Mazariegos Castillo, 18, of Framingham, was charged with the following:
• Operating under the influence of liquor
• Negligent operation of a motor vehicle
• Obstruction of justice
• Withholding of evidence from a criminal proceeding
• Unsafe operation of a motor vehicle
• Littering trash
• Person under 21 in possession of alcohol
• Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
• Marked lanes violation
• Possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle
A 42-year-old Framingham woman who was the passenger in the vehicle was also charged with obstruction of justice.
Mazariegos Castillo was expected to be arraigned Monday in Westborough District Court.
