Fire in manufacturing facility damages commercial building in Holden

HOLDEN — On Saturday, March 21, 2026, at approximately 3:25 a.m., the Wachusett Regional Emergency Communications Center received an automatic fire alarm activation at a commercial building located at 1 Woodmeister Way.

According to the Holden Fire Department, the first arriving engine company confirmed a water flow activation inside the large manufacturing facility. Upon investigation, firefighters located heavy smoke and active fire in a large spray booth room.

A working fire assignment was requested, bringing mutual aid resources to the scene. The fire was brought under control with the activation of two sprinkler heads and was ultimately extinguished by responding fire companies.

The Holden Fire Department said the building’s sprinkler and alarm systems functioned as intended, preventing further damage to the structure and its contents.

No injuries were reported.

The Holden Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Rutland, West Boylston, Paxton and Sterling fire departments, as well as the Holden Municipal Light Department and Holden Police Department. Town-wide coverage during the incident was provided by the Boylston, Leicester and Worcester fire departments.

The fire remains under investigation by the Massachusetts Fire District 8 Fire Investigation Unit and is considered accidental at this time.
