HAVERHILL — Superintendent Margaret Marotta announced Wednesday that the Consentino Middle School building project is ahead of schedule and under budget, with Haverhill Public Schools hoping to open the facility in May 2026.
Superintendent Marotta recently toured the new building with Consentino Principal Eileen Doherty as work continues on the project, which began in April 2024.

According to Haverhill Public Schools, the project was originally budgeted at $150 million and is currently under budget.
The new building is designed to support what the district described as a 21st-century learning environment aligned with its mission and vision for student success.
Planned features include science labs, a book vending machine, open learning environments, a new gymnasium, an enclosed courtyard for outdoor dining, and an outdoor recreation area with a middle-school age appropriate playground and basketball court.

The district said furniture for the school was scheduled to be delivered Monday, March 23, as the building moves closer to opening.
Haverhill Public Schools also said the design includes spaces intended to support Consentino’s Community School initiative, including a student-run food pantry, a clothing closet, and a kitchen for community use after school hours.
As part of the broader project, Silver Hill Elementary School, located next to Consentino, is also expected to build a new playground and update its landscaping in the coming months.
The district said it maintains a page on its website with project updates, committee meeting minutes, and a form allowing community members to submit questions directly to district leadership.
