Vehicle slams into Holden diner, causing extensive structural damage

HOLDEN — On Friday, March 27, 2026, at approximately 9:53 a.m., the Wachusett Regional Emergency Communications Center received multiple calls reporting that a vehicle had driven into The 122 Diner at 1392 Main Street, and people were evacuating the building.

According to the Holden Fire Department, first responders arriving on scene found the driver of the vehicle suffering from a medical emergency. Fire department personnel treated the driver at the scene before transporting them to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

Rutland Fire Department’s ambulance was requested and responded to the scene to assist with evaluating occupants that were inside the diner at the time of the crash, the Holden Fire Department reported. No one inside the restaurant was injured.

The building sustained extensive structural damage and was closed by the building inspector until structural engineers can assess the extent of the damage.

The crash remains under investigation by the Holden Police Department.
