WORCESTER — On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, a 17-year-old male was arrested on firearm-related charges following a joint investigation involving Worcester and Auburn police.
According to the Worcester Police Department, the investigation involved the department’s Crime Gun Unit, Gang Unit and Detective Bureau, along with the Auburn Police Department.
Worcester police said the case began April 3, when Auburn police were dispatched to a business in Auburn after a store clerk reported that a male had come in to sell several electronics. After completing the sale, the male left the store but returned a few minutes later and began acting frantically, according to police.
Investigators said the male ran behind the counter to access the devices he had sold because he had left an item inside one of them. While helping him retrieve the item, the clerk noticed it was a firearm, police said. The male also removed a second item that appeared to be a sock containing heavy objects before fleeing the store.
Auburn and Worcester detectives later identified the juvenile.
Members of the Worcester Police Department’s Crime Gun Unit and Gang Unit then conducted surveillance at the juvenile’s residence and stopped him shortly after he left, police said. Based on information known to investigators and statements made by the juvenile’s mother, detectives with the Worcester Police Department’s Crime Gun Unit obtained a search warrant for the juvenile’s residence.
According to the Worcester Police Department, during the execution of the search warrant, police found a firearm and ammunition. The male juvenile was located and arrested without incident on April 7, 2026.
Auburn police detectives are continuing to investigate the incident in their town, and Worcester police said the juvenile could face additional charges.
