BOSTON — On Thursday, April 23, 2026, a Worcester man was sentenced in federal court for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.
Gilbert Morin, 40, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman to six years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
Morin was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2025. He was arrested and charged in state court on May 30, 2025, and has remained in custody since.
Federal prosecutors say that on May 30, 2025, police responded to a report of a man with a firearm outside a downtown nightclub. Officers were unable to locate the person at the scene, but drove a short distance away and saw a man who appeared to be concealing an item in his hand.
When police attempted to stop the man, later identified as Morin, he led officers on a foot chase, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.
After Morin was apprehended, officer located a stolen, loaded Taurus pistol on his person. In addition, Morin had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley, Thomas Greco, special agent in charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Boston Field Division, and Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier announced the sentence Friday.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kaitlin J. Brown of the Worcester Branch Office prosecuted the case.
