Seven displaced after two-alarm fire leaves Framingham home uninhabitable

FRAMINGHAM — On Thursday, April 23, 2026, at approximately 4:00 a.m., firefighters with the Framingham Fire Department responded to a two-alarm structure fire at 9 Highland Street.

According to the Framingham Fire Department, upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire conditions on the first floor of the residence.

Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack and brought the blaze under control in about 45 minutes, Fire Chief Michael Dutcher said.

A 22-year-old man was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment for smoke inhalation, according to Chief Dutcher. No firefighters were injured.

Seven residents were displaced by the fire, and the American Red Cross provided them with assistance, Chief Dutcher said.

The home was deemed uninhabitable following the fire.

Fire departments from Natick, Wayland, Sudbury, Southborough and Ashland provided station coverage during the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
